What about the international picture?
Sarral still writes on their website the following:
“How does SARRAL fit into the International picture?"
There are authors societies in virtually every other country of the world and SARRAL has a reciprocal arrangement with them whereby it will represent their interests in South Africa and they in turn will represent SARRAL's interests in their countries.”
This is no longer a true statement.
Nor has it been a true statement for a number of years.
From early 2007 onwards, most international societies either cancelled or failed to renew their SARRAL agreements and signed exclusive contracts with SAMRO instead. By the end of 2009, SARRAL had lost almost all of its reciprocal agreements including the UK, Australia and most European countries.
